Volunteer

St. Francis Children's Center offers a variety of fulfilling volunteer opportunities that contribute to the success of our organization and the children we serve. Check out our current opportunities below.

Classroom Assistant Volunteer
As a classroom assistant in one of our Early Childhood Education classrooms, you will interact with young children with and without special needs. This includes facilitating their learning during activities and projects, monitoring and engaging with them during indoor and outdoor play, and assisting with classroom tasks and chores as directed by the teaching staff. Our classrooms are open from 7:30 am until 5:30 pm on weekdays, and we ask volunteers to come at least two hours per week.

Family Activity Center Aide
Be a part of St. Francis Children's Center's new Family Activity Center (FAC)! The Center offers free drop-in programming to children with special needs and their families. Programming includes play time, planned activities, special events and parent support. Volunteer responsibilities will include playing with the children, assisting the staff in Center activities and helping to keep the Center neat and tidy. For FAC events like Sibshops or speaker events, you will be asked to help with facilitating the event.

What Volunteers are Saying

"{My favorite part was that} I was able to come in on a regular basis and got to know all the kids! It's not a full-time commitment for me, which makes it easier to come in and it works around my time/availability." - Summer Classroom Volunteer

"I have loved every day that I've been able to volunteer at St. Francis... The teachers and staff there are fantastic and all of the kids are wonderful!" - UW- Milwaukee Service Learning Student Volunteer

"The staff did not merely use me as an extra body in the classrooms and instead involved me in the activities and help. I felt included, welcomed and useful in the classroom." - Classroom Volunteer

"I really enjoyed working with the wonderful children at St. Francis Children's center. It was a great way for me to have fun while making a difference in my community." - Summer Classroom Volunteer
