September Newsletter

Sweet September

This month we will be learning about food! Our focus will be on identifying edible and inedible items, being active and food categories. Watch our classroom wall transform into a giant food pyramid as we explore healthy eating! We will also do some "cooking," making gelatin, dirt cake and flavored milk.

Activities this month will include:
* Our sensory table being used to explore with rice, water, cooked noodles and crackers.
* Our large muscles being worked as we learn and practice a new yoga pose each week!
* Our fine motor skills being used to string pasta and cereal, stacking blocks and feeding a hungry caterpillar!

Our books this month are:
* How Do Dinosaurs Eat Their Food? by Jane Yolen and Mark Teague
* Ten Apples Up On Top by Dr. Seuss
* If You Give A Moose A Muffin by Laura Numeroff
* The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle
* If You Give A Cat A Cupcake by Laura Numeroff

Things to remember and consider in September:
* We are CLOSED Monday, September 6th for Labor Day.
* Please remember to check your child's cubby every time your child is here. There are often important communications that come to you via your child's cubby and we don't want you to miss anything!
* If you have any questions, concerns, requests or compliments, please let any of your child's teachers know! Also, private conferences can be set up in advance at your request anytime.
