Early Intervention/Birth to Three Program

Our Early Intervention/Birth to Three Program provides service coordination and early intervention services in Milwaukee and Ozaukee counties for children aged birth to three who have been diagnosed with delayed development or who have a condition known to result in developmental delays.

Services offered include:

  • Speech, physical, occupational and psychological therapies
  • Family education, training and counseling
  • Social work
  • Special instruction
  • Transportation

While the short-term outcome of these services is a child's successful achievement of their specific individual goals, the long-term effect is often significant economic and social rewards for the children, their families and our community.

Parents have the option of their child receiving these services within the following environments:

  • At the Center
  • In the child's home
  • In a community child care setting

Through the use of these natural environments, we are able to serve more infants and toddlers with special needs in sites throughout Milwaukee and Ozaukee counties.

Our Birth to Three program at the Center involves a play group setting for children with and without special needs. Through this inclusive environment, children with disabilities benefit greatly from exposure to typically developing children who act as role models for the development of social, motor and language skills.

When the Birth to Three program is carried out in the child's home or in a community child care setting, our early intervention team of teachers, therapists and service coordinators share their expertise to educate and demonstrate how family members, caregivers and other influential people in the child's life can take a proactive role in helping the child reach their developmental and learning potential.
